About the project:
The COASTING PLUS project is aimed at presenting tools for integrated management of sustainable and responsible coastal tourism in the countries of the Transnational Mediterranean Program. The basic goal is to adopt common methodologies for establishing a multi-sectoral process with several participants that would lead to the signing of an agreement through which public / private participants are obliged to implement joint strategies.
COASTING PLUS will direct the methodology towards 5 new territories through a transitional process of combining meetings with instructions and practical applications led by project partners who transfer the methodology and partners who adopt the methodology with the aim of signing the Coastal Agreement in the targeted areas.
The project should achieve 2 basic results:
- at the local level 5 protocols that include a specific strategy for drafting the Coastal Agreement for Sustainable Tourism in each new target area will be signed.
- at the level of the Transnational Mediterranean Program countries a memorandum of understanding will be signed on the adoption of a methodology that renews the obligations for its application, and would advocate for transfer and institutional takeover.
The COASTING PLUS project started on June 1st 2021., and the completion of the project is planned for the end of June 2022. The project, worth 312.709,00 euros, was contracted under the Interreg Mediterranean program, with a grant co-financing rate of 85%.
