Project description:
The project refers to the development of a new cultural-tourist product through the networking of Franciscan monasteries and other Franciscan institutions that are connected to the Franciscan monasteries, into a unique cultural-tourist route called "Franciscana".
"Franciscana" represents a platform through which the valuable cultural and historical heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, which has been primarily preserved thanks to the activities of the Franciscans in these areas, will be evaluated culturally as well as touristically.
The general goal of the project is to strengthen cross-border cooperation through the tourist evaluation of the cultural and historical heritage of Croats in BiH and the Republic of Croatia. The specific goal of the project is the promotion of the "Franciscana" route as a unique cultural-tourist route that connects Franciscan monasteries and related cultural institutions and facilities in BiH and Dubrovnik-Neretva County. A continuation of the "Via Franciscana" project is being prepared, the primary focus of which will be cycling as one of the more attractive options for touring the cultural and touristic Franciscana route. Through the continuation of the project, the goal is to network the three countries and promote them as a whole, and the project's further ambition is to create a good basis for the candidacy of the Franciscan cultural-tourist route for the Council of Europe cultural route. Franciscans have been present in BiH and Dalmatia since the 13th century. In addition to pastoral care, the Franciscans spread education and culture and were the only teachers and originators of the first literary and scientific works and guardians of cultural and historical heritage. ''
Franciscana'' introduces you to the world of the Franciscan order and the activities of the Franciscans in BiH, Dalmatia and Montenegro as guardians of cultural and historical heritage. Through the "Franciscan" cultural-tourist route, visitors will be able to travel through the specific and turbulent history of these areas, whose active participants are the Franciscans who worked in these areas.
