Promoting the co-evolution of human activities and natural systems for the development of sustainable coastal and maritime tourism

The project aims at analysing and promoting the co-evolution of human activities and natural systems in coastal areas with high touristic pressure and/or high touristic potential, facing effects due to climate change and allowing sustainable development of toristic activities, in coexistence and synergy with other uses of coastal and marine space and resources. In Dubrovnik-Neretva County area, the pilot area for implementation of activities is Neretva River delta.
Threats to, and opportunities for, such co-evolution will be analysed and addressed at Mediterranean scale, based on existing studies and new analysis and to local scale, producing integrated plans, management actions and pilot demonstration on representative Pilot Areas, basing on principles of integration between ICM&MSP.
DUNEA participate in the project with Croatian partner RERA and other partners from international european institutions (Conference of peripheral maritime regions of Europe, Priority Actions Programme Regional Activity Centre), Greece (Region of East Macedonia and Thrace, University of Thessaly), Italy (National Research Council - Institute of Marine Sciences, Emilia-Romagna Region, IUAV University of Venice, Po Delta Park Veneto Region Authority), Spain (FEPORT - Port Institute for Studies and Cooperation of the Valencia Region) and France (Department of Herault)
Total project budget is € 3.000.000,00, where 85 % of the budget is provided by European Regional Development Fund, and it amounts € 2.559.000,00.
