The socio-economic impact of tourism is extraordinary and urban tourism, but it brings at the same time a range of negative externalities, including high levels of unsustainable resource consumption and waste production. In comparison with other cities, tourist cities have to face additional challenges related to waste prevention and management.
Županijsko partnerstvo
Temelju odredbi Zakona o regionalnom razvoju Republike Hrvatske i Uredbe Vlade Republike Hrvatske o osnivanju, sastavu, djelokrugu i načinu rada partnerskih vijeća, 11. prosinca 2015. osnovano je Partnerskog vijeća Dubrovačko-neretvanske županije.
Partnersko vijeće je savjetodavno tijelo koje okuplja predstavnike različitih dionika razvoja na području jedinice regionalne samouprave (javni, gospodarski i civilni sektor te akademske zajednice) i broji 35 članova koje imenuje župan na prijedlog regionalnog koordinatora. Osniva se s ciljem utvrđivanja zajedničkih prioriteta na razini jedinice regionalne samouprave, predlaganja strateških projekata te obavljanja drugih poslova u skladu sa Zakonom i navedenom Uredbom.
Partnerstvo djeluje kao forum za dijalog i postizanje konsenzusa između različitih skupina dionika i ima prvenstveno savjetodavnu ulogu u izradi i provedbi planskih dokumenata politike regionalnog razvoja. Od članova županijskog partnerstva očekuje se aktivan doprinos tijekom čitavog ciklusa strateškog planiranja, a partnerstvo djeluje u svim fazama izrade i provedbe Županijske razvojne strategije, od analize stanja i SWOT analize preko definiranja razvojnih problema županije, utvrđivanja vizije i ciljeva, prioriteta i mjera te odabira razvojnih projekata do sudjelovanja u nadzoru i praćenju provedbe Županijske razvojne strategije.

An important part of the Agency's program is to promote the investment opportunities in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County with the aim to create a more attractive environment for investments, and to increase long-term competitiveness of the regional economy.
Our main activity is to provide advisory support to investors that includes: up-to-date communication with investors, providing information on the business environment, and available investment incentives, organizing site visits, connecting investors with other stakeholders and decision-makers, implementing a program of post-investment services, and participating in the process of long-term removal of administrative obstacles.

We have made numerous promotional materials for investors as part of the "Invest in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County" program that can be downloaded from our 3D application. As the organizer of the International Investment Forum Dubrovnik our County promotes investment opportunities in the south of Croatia and the wider area of Southeastern Europe. The Forum brings together many representatives of international and Croatian companies, the Croatian Government, and representatives of local and regional authorities from all Croatian counties. The Dubrovnik-Neretva County is the holder of the certificate "Croatian Investor-Friendly County" assigned by the certification program region for investment (Investment Certification Programme for Regions - ICPR) Croatian Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship.
Development Strategy of the Dubrovnik Neretva Region
Strategic planning of regional development is achieved through adoption and implementation of multi-annual planning documents.
The Development Strategy of the Dubrovnik Neretva Region represents a planning document of regional district governments in setting out the main directions of development (goals and priorities) regional self-government prepared on the principle of partnership.
County development strategy was adopted unanimously on 20 April 2011 at the 14th regular session of the County Assembly.
Regional Development
Regional Development Coordinator of the Dubrovnik Neretva Region
With the objective to efficiently coordinate and encourage regional development at the local, regional and national level in the Republic of Croatia, and to improve the implementation of project ideas within the project network, our agency has been appointed as Regional Development Coordinator of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
Activities of the Regional Development Coordinator:
- To coordinate the process of the development of the Development Strategy of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, we monitor the implementation and we are responsible for annual reports. As part of the above activities, we register and update projects in the central electronic database of development projects of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
- We participate in the work of the partner council of the statistical regions of the Croatia (Adriatic Croatia), collaborate with other regional coordinators, provide technical support to local governments (municipalities and towns), we are in the process of aligning with the national development strategy and the regional development law as required by the relevant Ministry.
- We coordinate the activities related to the implementation of the program „Development and implementation of development projects eligible for financing from the EU funds“ managed by the Croatian Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.
- We develop regional development projects.
- We provide technical support to the public sector in the preparation of development projects.
- We conduct educational activities for employees of municipalities and towns of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County - this year's plan for educational activities will soon be published on our website.
